The municipality of Maripá (5,603 inhabitants in 2019; 28,379 ha) is located
560 km west of Curitiba.
The flags and arms of Maripá are prescribed by
Municipal Law No. 52 promulgated on 24 August 1994.
Article 2.
The
flag of the municipality of Maripá, designed by the Coordenação da Enciclopédia
Simbológica Municipalista Paranaense - ESIMPAR, shall be rectangular, in
proportions 14 units in width on 20 units in length, in accordance with Article
5 of Federal Law No. 5,700, with the following characteristics:
a) the flag
is composed of two equal fields, in the shape of a scalene right-angled
triangle, the upper one in blue and the lower one in yellow, separated by a
white stripe.
b) the upper field features three white stars, the one in the
upper right and the one in the lower left of 1.5 module each and the one in the
center of the triangle of 2 units.
c) the white stripe of 2 units in width
that separates the triangles runs from the upper right (host side) to the lower
left angle.
d) the geometric figure, in the center of the flag, in which the
coat of arms of the municipality is applied, is a white circle of 7 units in
circumference, which symbolizes eternity, as it has neither beginning nor end.
Article 5.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Maripá, designed by
the Coordenação da Enciclopédia Simbológica Municipalista Paranaense - ESIMPAR,
is a Samnite shield, in proportions 7 units in length on 8 units in width,
horizontally divided in the 3rd unit by a black outline, forming two unequal
fields, with the following characteristics.
a) Shield's upper part
The
shield's upper field, separated horizontally from the lower field by a black
outline in the 3rd unit, is divided into two equal quadrilaterals.
The upper
right, blue quadrilateral features in the center, in green, a purple ipê tree (Tabebuia
avellanedae), representing the main type of wood used by Madeireira Rio
Paraná, the first nucleus of pioneers that gave rise to the village. The town's
toponym comes from the initial syllables of the name of the company;
The
upper left, yellow quadrilateral features in the center the book of the Holy
Scriptures, in white, containing the Greek letters alpha and omega, in black,
which mean, respectively, beginning and end. This set represents the union of
religions and doctrines existing in the municipality of Maripá, which in an
ecumenical work, are willing to collaborate in the improvement of human values:
sociocultural, ethical, moral and religious, aiming to preserve the peace and
tranquility of its inhabitants.
b) Shield's lower part
The shield's lower
field is divided by a waved stripe, forming two unequal fields.
The white,
wavy stripe starts from the starting point of the 4th unit on the right side,
going obliquely to the starting point of the 7th unit on the left side. It
represents the hydrography of the municipality.
The lower right, brown field,
with contour lines, features a tractor driven by a technician, in black. It
represents arable and mechanized land, one of the main sources of income in the
municipality.
The lower left, green side features three slight undulations of
terrain in 4th unit, with the rising sun, in yellow, between the first and
second elevations. In the center of this green field is the figure of a cow
standing still, looking to the right. Above the ripples and the figure of the
rising sun, the blue color represents the firmament. In this field, the green
color represents the forests and also the vegetation that serves as food for the
cattle. The milk cow indicates the municipality's expressive milk production.
The rising sun represents the mighty strength of the people of Maripá, who renew
themselves every dawn, seeking new solutions for their own development and for
the development of the municipality.
c) Additional symbols of the shield
Crown: The shield is surmounted by a six-towered mural crown argent (white),
only four of them visible, with black gates. It represents the municipal
authority.
Supporters: The shield of the municipality of Maripá is supported
on its right side by a soybean plant fructed and, on its left side, by a maize
plant fructed, both proper. They represent the main agricultural resources of
the municipality.
Scroll: The red scroll is inscribed in black, "17-4-1990 -
MARIPÁ - 1-1- 1993", which corresponds, respectively, to the municipality's date
of creation, toponym and date of installation.
Colors:
- blue is the color
of the firmament. It symbolizes justice, truth, loyalty, and beauty.
- the
color green denotes faith. It symbolizes hope, freedom, and strength of nature.
- yellow is the image of maturity of judgment. It symbolizes nobility,
magnitude, wealth.
- white is pure light. It symbolizes integrity, obedience,
vigilance, peace, and order.
- red is energy. It symbolizes strength,
courage, and triumph.
- black belongs to the domain of intelligence. It
symbolizes prudence, vigor, and honesty.
- brown represents the earth. Its
symbology is identified with the virtues and qualities described in black.
