The municipality's name in Croatian: Kerestur; in Hungarian: Sopronkeresztúr (until 1899: Németkeresztúr); in Hebrew: Zelem¹

¹ Deutschkreutz belonged to the so-called Siebengemeinden (Seven Communities, Hebrew: Sheva Kehilot), with a special Jewish history (beside Eisenstadt, Frauenkirchen, Kittsee, Kobersdorf, Lackenbach, Mattersburg). Per pale Or a Latin cross pattée Gules then Gules in base three barrulets wavy Argent followed by ten bezants of the First and in chief a leaf slipped of this Last.

Its arms were granted on 14 January 1976 from the Burgenland government. The design combines the history and present of the municipality. The cross from the old town seal was adopted as a symbolic representation of the parish church and the town's name; the grape and the wavy bars were added as symbols of viticulture and the mineral spring, the most important factors in the economic life of the municipality.
The official colours are red and yellow.
