 According to the photo, inscription 
should be black, not grey, and the pale charged with the torch should be white, 
just as in the image - the fact that it looks darker is due to the shadows.

 For inscription I think you are right, but for pale my opinion is: grey not 
white.

 That is quite possible - it is difficult to distinguish between a white 
field in shadow and an area intended to be grey.
