This Area was established in 1930. Fishing is the mainstay of
the economy.
Stuart Notholt, 26 Sep 1995
In the new volume of Vexilologie (120)
[vex], there is an article by
Mikhail Revnivtsev [rev01]
about some Russian regional flags is published. New data on
Koryak Autonomous District: symbols adopted 1999 (June 6).
The flag colors are light blue and white, and the reindeer
(not deer) head is red (not marroon!) and the flag ratio
is 2:3. [Unlike what is shown in
[r9u00].]
Jan Zrzavy, 17 Jul 2001
This flag looks good, quite good indeed. It’s probably the first time
we gain, vexillographically speaking, when replacing an image
from the Aspirant chart [eba94] with an
official flag.
Antonio Martins, 08 Apr 2000

The Koryak have been reported as flying a
white flag with a green stripe at the bottom. On the white stripe is a golden
sun; oddly enough this is visually identical with the sun device on the flag
of Namibia.
Stuart Notholt, 26 Sep 1995
This flag is listed under number 132 at the chart Flags
of Aspirant Peoples [eba94] as:
«Chav’ Chu”v [Koryakia] (Koryaks) - Kamchatka».
