The emblem consists of two angels, who hold an Eastern bishop's staff (topped with a cross between two snakes) together and each have a palm frond in the other hand, a book with Ethiopian inscriptions between the angels and beneath the said staff, all surrounded by an olive wreath and an Eastern mitre. (Not all details are easily recognized.)

The church is one of the Oriental Orthodox churches.
