Shield Argent, a hand proper, on dexter chief a towered tower Purpure masoned Or with port and windows Or, on sinister chief a bunch of grapes Gules leafed Vert. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "NUMÃO".
Meaning:
While "numão" has no evident meaning in current Portuguese, "mão" means "hand" and the arms may thus be canting for that, as a pun or not. The official blazon calls for red grapes (and that is how this colour can be used on the flag), but Sérgio Horta uses purple.
