No Flag

It appears Las Margaritas does not use a municipal flag.

Coat of Arms

The council did not inform me on the history of their coat of arms. The coat of arms of Las Margaritas is adopted by the Municipal Regulation on Police and Government, in Article 7 of Chapter III.

The Shield of the Municipality is integrated by three base elements which identify the territory.

In the first field, natural elements are localized and represented by the Chixantanal Hill, commonly pronounced "Shintawal", whose significance determines place where orchids (tanal) grow, where something is broken or destroyed; in conjunction with the hill, an archaeological element is localized, which manifests in the power of the creator of man, which permits the development of sciences and technology, achieving the equilibrium of virtue and reality. In the second field, two elements are localized which give identity to the three ethnicities: tojolabal, tzeltal, and tzotzil, as originary races seated in the municipality, representing their traditions and customs through the drum: combining this with the flower of daisies which gives origin to the name of the municipality [lit. "The Daisies" in English]; the central part of the flower signifies the cell that symbolizes life, the small circles represent biological cycles of the organized beings, the lower petals signify the root and origin of the peoples; the upper ones are for the cohesion of effort joined with all men and all of the localities.

In the third field or function or background of the composition, the silhouette of the Church of Santa Margarita is located, patron saint of the town, who represents religious tradition which is considered the most representative of this municipality.
