The council informed me they do not use a municipal flag.

The coat of arms is made official by the Municipal Regulation on Police and Government. The council informed me their coat of arms was adopted in 1999, being designed by Domingo Zepeda López through a call for submissions by the council at the time. The council also informed me the coat of arms was used until 2007, though the adoption of a coat of arms has been made official by the 2018-2021 administration more recently. The shield has a green border, with a small incision on the top-left. At the top it reads "AGUAIMA", its original name (place of the green leaf). Its current name of Ixhuatán means "tree leaf". The border also reads to its sides including the bottom its motto, "PARAISO DE LAS HOJAS VERDES" [Paradise of the Green Leaves]. In its inner section, the La Sierra River flows through the area. Over it is a bridge which crosses over it, found in the Municipal Seat. In the background, birds fly and the sun is seen behind the green mountains, signifying its geography and fauna. Many trees are seen, also for its geography; to the front, many fruits are seen for its fruticulture and cows for cattle-raising.
