On 27th of May, 2022:
The Consello da Xunta gave the green light this Wednesday to the decree approving the flag of the Concello de Alfoz. Thus, the municipality already has an official insignia that it lacked until now, as recalled by the Alfocense mayor, Jorge Val, who assures that although it does have a shield, until now it had no flag. "We know that there are other councils that do not dye either, but we wanted to have one and we decided to order or design it," he explained this Wednesday and advanced that in the next few days the model will be commissioned so that it flies on the mast that it has reserved in the consistory. "It's always nice to have a flag for a calquera event," added Val.

For the Alfocense flag, it was Eduardo Pardo de Guevara , president of the Padre Sarmiento Institute of Studies, who was in charge of drawing up several sketches with the characteristic elements of the municipality and which already appear on the municipal coat of arms. Thus in all of them there is a green background symbolizing the valley; the tower, hallmark of the municipality, and symbols of the coat of arms of Marshal Pardo de Cela. These elements were repeated in the different sketches, although their distribution was different. Finally, the proposal that has the tower in white on a green background on the right was chosen because the local government considered that it was the part that would be seen the most when the flag is waving and, thus, the most significant element of the municipality will be the part of the most visible flag.

"Now it's official, so only Lucila remains," assured the mayor, pleased to finally have a badge that completes the coat of arms as part of the identity of the municipality.
This approval comes more than a year after the Council approved the final design sketch , in January of last year. At that time, not all the groups agreed with the procedure for making the flag, although the alderman considers that an expert in heraldry is the best way for this task.
In this sense, the independents proposed to carry out an ideas contest and that a jury made up of experts in heraldry would choose several proposals so that later the neighbors in a popular consultation would choose the definitive model.

GERM. It was in 2020, during the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the granting of the town title to Castro de Ouro , which would be the germ of the municipality, when the local government began to see the need to have a flag.
In those celebrations, held in September, a plaque was also placed in the old school of Bacoi remembering this anniversary. Bacoi was where the agreement that granted the title of town to Castro de Ouro was signed on April 10, 1220 .
