About the Flag of São João Nepomuceno

The flag was adopted by law no 393 of 10 July 1967. It is 7:10, blue, with the municipal coat of arms on a white lozenge on the center, and issuing from the lozenge two black stripes bordered white dividing the field vertically and horizontally. The coat of arms was adopted by law 394 of the same day. It consists of a silver shield with the achievement of the ecclesiastical arms of St. John Nepomucene, consisting of a blue shield with a dove in chief and a paschal lamb in base, both white; the shield superimposed on a black pastoral staff and ensigned with a purple miter edged in gold; below the shield a scroll inscribed Ecce agnus dei (Behold the Lamb of God). Above the miter and pastoral staff is the ecclesiastical hat of a bishop, black with six pendant tassels on each side. The entire arms are placed on a purple pavillion lined blue, with the name of the municipality in white letters along the lower edge of the lining, and topped by a silver mural crown.
