The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is a state level
organization that coordinates any preparations (and recoveries) from any kind of
natural disaster, emergency situations, with state and local officials and
agencies. It also coordinates with FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency)
when a federal response or cooperation is required. As of 2019, TDEM was
transferred from the Department of Public Safety and is now under the auspices
of the Texas A&M University System.
