A Jefferson County borough is flying high with a new symbol of pride. For the first time ever, Punxsutawney has an official flag with the help of its Chamber of Commerce team. Chamber President Katie Laska said it's been a long time coming as residents have used homemade banners for years to show community pride. She said those designs inspired the creation of a unified flag, which is now recognized by the borough.

She added that the logo honors the rich history by including its Native American and coal mining roots along with Phil the groundhog. Punxsutawney Borough resident Nate Pyles said, "I think it's pretty cool because it actually shows like a heritage of our town. If you look at it, it has our name or sand fly on it and it has our historical background on it and our mining town and the Indian. I think it's pretty cool." Laska said they will start selling the new flag in the near future.
