8 December 1864: "The rebel flag found on Anderson's person was then shown the 
command. The flag is a small affair, made of fine silk, and the corner piece 
containing seven silver stars. On one side was -written in ink: " Presented to 
W. T. Anderson, by his friend, A. R. T.," and on the other side: "Do not let 
this be contaminated by Federal hands."
