The flag of A.S.D.T. is an unequal triband of green, yellow and blue, in
2+1+2 ratio; on the hoist a white triangle charged with a red disc. On the
yellow stripe, the letters "ASDT"; details vary. No
clues about the symbolism, but graphically there is some similarity with the
flag of Fretilin, this party’s close
ally.

In the 2007.06.02 elections A.S.D.T. used
the same flag as before, though the exact shape and placement of the letters
seems to vary.

According to a political analyst (Adelino Gomes: “A Força da
Bandeira e os Desafios da Vitória” Público
2001.09.07 :3), "What are PD and ASDT,
but different divisions of the same independentist family?"… "ASDT standing for the countryside old guard, embattled in its clannish
standpoints, confused but maubere."

In the 2007.06.02 elections A.S.D.T. run
in a (unnamed) coalition with P.S.D., which got
65 358 votes (15.73%), receiving 11 of 65 seats in the parliament.

A.S.D.T. got 28 495 votes in the 2001.08.30
elections (7,84%), receiving 6 of 88 seats in the parliament — even
if A.S.D.T. got only 14% of Fretilin’s result,
it got to be the fourth party in these elections, closely following
P.S.D. and P.D. These
results were quite unexpected, and A.S.D.T. was the only party who beat
Fretilin in district elections, having won in
Aileu.
