The Shield of the arms is Gules two pilgrims' staffs Argent set per saltire studded, flasked and cordoned Or, in chief a scallop Or, in base wavy Argent a barrulet wavy Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll (usual style (see left flag image) or Bénard Guedes style see right flag image)reading in black upper case letters "VILAR DE PEREGRINOS".
Meaning:
"Vilar de Peregrinos" means "hamlet of pilgrims" and this name implies some sort of connection with pilgrims on Way of Saint James to Santiago de Compostela; that's shown in arms by means of the pilgrims' walking sticks and flasks and of St. James' scallop; these arms are thus partly canting.
