It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Shield Argent with base wavy of Azure and Argent, issuant from base a three arched bridge Gules masoned Argent, in chief a grapevine Purpure flanked by two railway profiles Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "LOUSADO".

The profiles stand for the importance of the local railway station, where Guimarães Line forks off from Minho Line, two lines symbolized by two rail profiles.

Lousado Commune is one of the 34 communes of Vila Nova da Famalicão Municipality; it had 4057 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 5.6 km².
