Vyzuonos (Utena District) - on a green field a silver pale
(green-silver-green 1-2-1) with a green grass-snake having a
golden ear and black tongue. Flag proportions 5:6, free edges
bordered with golden rope, finial is a golden lance head with
golden bands. The charge is canting: "vyzas" means
"grass-snake" in the local dialect of Lithuanian.
It also reflects the semi-legendary fact that Vyzuonos was the
site of an ancient pagan sanctuary dedicated to the grass-snake,
which is one of the most sacred animals for Lithuanians. The head
of the ancient idol of the grass-snake can be seen in
the wall of Vyzuonos church even now.
