The city emblem was adopted on Apr 24th 1956 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a blue city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana さ Sa of Sakaiminato in a form of  cap of a wave. It represents a development of the bright city located at the peak of  Shimane peninsula and Yumihama peninsula.
