The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Jan 10th 2006 by Notice No 1 and
2. The white flag has a green, a red and an orange three color city emblem in
the center and the kanji name horizontally in black at the lower fly. The city
emblem is a stylized kanji 下 Shimo of Shimotsuke. The center red symbolizes a
new culture, a creation , a secure and safe future. it represents an image of
the healthy and bright city which develops in an abundant natural circumstances.
The flag proportion is 2: 3. The height of the emblem is 3/5 of the height of
the flag.

The flag of the former town of Ishibashi was maroon with mark. The town is
now, from 2006, part of the city of Shimotsuke.

now, from 2006, part of the city of Shimotsuke.
