It has come to my attention that shockingly, the BAT has accidentally but
legally purchased Australia. I will send details as they emerge.

I find the BAT accidental takeover of Australia as a brilliant and calculated
political move - think of the thousands of mostly empty beer cans that can be
found in the outback, perhaps providing salvation for the endangered Arctic
Aardvark if they can be collected and transported in time.

Ok, here's the story. Coincidentally, today, BAT Day of all days. A check
from the Royal Bank of the BAT's government account written in Australian
Dollars for the sum of AU$85.00 was cashed in Canberra, Australia. It was
supposed to be for the purchase of a didgeridoo made in Australia. The
didgeridoo was to be added to the musical instrument section of Alert high
Schools music department.
Anyway, the bill of sale was to read as
follows:
"AUD$85.00 toward the purchase of an original didgeridoo, made in
Australia."
Due to a clerical error, the words, "an original didgeridoo,
made in" were left our of the bill sale. Thus the bill of sale read: "AUD$85.00
toward the purchase of Australia".
Without going into a lot of verbose
legal detail, the sale is binding due to the actual language on the signed bill
of sale. This fact was verified just minutes ago right up to the Privy Council
of England, who met in emergency session today in order to bring clarity to the
situation. So, the BAT has purchased Australia for the hefty sum of AUD$85.00,
which is actually a pretty good deal....from what I am told.
During the
day, the staff of BAT's Office of Vexillology was working feverishly to produce
appropriate flag samples to take immediate effect. The new flag of the British
Arctic Australia Territory is attached. The commonwealth star was added to the
big polar bear, (or Commonwealth Bear), at the last second to take a bit of the
edge off of the shock that many Australians are certainly feeling at the moment.
All other Australian flags will be modified to reflect the new order of
things, with the attached blue ensign serving as the model. That said, the RAAF
flag will maintain the kangaroo roundel.
Additionally, Australian States,
now sub-territories, will model their sub-territory flags after the attached
Western Australia sub territory flag. I know the Aussies are stunned to say the
least. The BAT is excited though. If for no other reason, this the first time in
British history where a British territory or colony had a territory or colony of
its own. The BAT's current Governor is an Aussie girl, and she is confident that
the shock will soon wear off. I think secretly, Buckingham Palace must be
thrilled. They get Australia back, albeit indirectly.
