Aspect ratio of the flags: 2: 3 
In 2016 the blue colour of the flag was 
changed, the red bar and the white anchor were removed and the coat of arms was 
placed in the center of the flag in a modified form. The flag in the governor's office matches the 
official flag pattern.

The first flag had a red bar across it, over a white anchor as an indication 
of the location on the Red Sea. There is an ancient statue above the bar.

The statue on the flag was graphically improved in 2010 to make it the coat 
of arms of the governorate.
