Trans-Splitt AG at Basel, the name of which may be rendered as "crushed stone transportation", is a member of ALFS Group at Baden-Baden (DE), active - since 1948 - in the trade and transportation of construction materials (sand, gravel, stone, assorted products).

reveal Trans-Splitt at Basel was founded in 1964 and the Mannheim branch (DE, as 
GmbH) in 1969 in order to assure ALFS steady transportation over inland 
waterways. Across the border from Basel, the St Louis branch (FR) was founded in 
1992. I should add that the fleet consisted or consists of privately owned 
barges as well as chartered and owned boats. Over the years bulk goods (other 
than stone in every sort and variety) have become important; maritime and land 
transportation are arranged as well.
Seen on a tiny photo and shown as a 
drawing on 
http://www.alfs.de/spedition.phtml, the house flag is bright red, even 
veering towards orange – let us say vermilion. A sort of widening white road 
starts from the flag’s upper edge, broadening towards the lower fly where it 
encounters a white stripe bearing the company name in black letters (sans 
serif).

If this flag is specific to 
the Basel company, the white band here possibly represents the bend in the Rhine 
where Basel is located (the "Rheinknie"). This symbol features in a lot of 
things in this region.
