The monk on the flag of Rudolfstetten-Friedlisberg shows St. Fridolin  hence the name 
Friedlisberg  , although his name doesn't appear in 
the official blazoning [see also Glarus canton].

On 1 January 1967 Rudolfstetten and Friedlisberg merged to form the new commune of Rudolfstetten-Friedlisberg.

The lion is associated with Rudolf of Habsburg, because, according to legend, he lent his horse to a priest to help him cross the flooding Reppisch river. The lion is the Habsburg coat of arms motif.
