Flag is the coat of arms on white.
The shape of the shield dates to the
late 18th - early 19th century.
Red (gules) symbolizes love, charity and
human warmth; or represents the people's rich spirit and character as well as
the producing soil. The chevron recalls the roofs of the old houses; it
represents the ranges that cross the territory as well as ways of development.
The star represents all the citizens which were or still are famous in diverse
kinds of human activities.
The mural crown is connected to the kingdom of
France; the four-towered fortress represents the Regiment of Carignan, to which
the first lord belonged, while the towers represent the first domains, Du Breuil,
Sainte-Marie, Paradis and Duhamel.
The Latin motto, reading "What Makes
Knowledgeable is Work", perfectly describes Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu's
people. Work, that is, experience, as well as instruction, made of Antoniens and
Antoniennes people with great knowledge.
The fleurs-de-lis and supporters
argent represent the reflected light of knowledge.
The unicorns supporting
the shield represent purity and determination.
The wavy stripes represents
plowed land and river Richelieu. The blue stripes symbolize the purity of water
and feeling, while the white stripes symbolize the clayey soil.
