The municipality of Vila Lângaro (2,152 inhabitants in 2010; 15,217 ha) is
located 330 km north of Porto Alegre.
Vila Lângaro was settled in 1899 by
Italian immigrants coming from Antônio Prada and Caixas do Sul, originating from
the region of Vicenza. The first colonists were the Lângaro brothers, who
acquired plots from Antero Boeira.
The municipality of Vila Lângaro was
established by State Law No. 10,661 promulgated on 28 December 1995.

The coat of arms of Vila Lângaro is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 39
promulgated on 18 June 1997, with the following meaning.
Main star: Seat
of the municipality.
Nine stars: Nine communities of the municipality.
Soybean, maize and onion: The main summer and winter crops that are part of the
local economy, also meaning work, abundance and prosperity.
Peach: Citrus
fruits, crop diversification, new sources of income and primary stuff for
industry.
Cattle: Milk production, poultry, pig breeding, also strong sources
of income for the local economy.
Tractor and machinery: Technological
advances for a better development and crop production with mechanization and
direct sowing, representing also agriculture, the municipality's main source of
income.
Sun rays: Birth of a new municipality, source of light and energy
emanating from the universe, divine manifestation.
Soil: Mother earth
supplying food, resources and prosperity.
Brazilian pine: Native species,
timber, municipal forest reserve, symbol of an active and strong settlement.
Scroll: Yellow with the name of the municipality and its date of emancipation,
"22-10-95".
Blue border: The rivers that limit the municipality. Water
resources, which supply life to all living organisms. Purification,
characterizing the municipality's vocation, conveying feelings of Christian
religion and faith.
Book: Education, production of knowledge, exercise of
wisdom and source of science, light that defeats the darkness.
