The flag and arms of Taiobeiras were adopted on 16 December 1987 by Law No.
574
(http://www.taiobeiras.mg.gov.br/sis2009/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67&Itemid=121):
Article 1, paragraph 2 of the law says: "The flag is white, representing the
purity of the mind of the inhabitants, with the municipal coat of arms in the
middle".
The coat of arms is described in Article 1, paragraph 1: "Based
on heraldic studies, the basic national colors were adopted for the coat of
arms: white, blue and yellow, symbolizing our nationality, with a projection of
the sun, a main stat of our planet system, surmounted by the triangle
representing the state of Minas Gerais; the sun on the coat of arms represents
the rise of Taiobeiras in the North Minas Gerais context and a promising
future."
The coat of arms is "Azure a sun or a chief of the second a
triangle gules. A scroll red the writing sable "12-XII TAIOBEIRAS 1953".
Taiobeiras seceded on 12 December 1953 from the municipality of Salinas.
