The Saponi Nation of Missouri, Mahenips Band are the descendents of Ohio River Valley Souix refugees from the Indian Removal Act of 1830 in Howell, Douglas, and Ozark counties of Missouri. The family core surnames are Collins, Hicks, James, Freeman, Clinton, Wood, and Turnbull. We are dedicated to honoring our ancestry and providing for our people today and in the future. The Saponi Nation of Missouri, Mahenips Band is a non-profit and tax exempt Indian government.
