The Smilyans'ka Community (Смілянська міська громада)
is one of 26 communities in Cherkas'kyy County. It was created in 2020. It has about 39 km² with about
66'500 inhabitants in two populated places. The Administrative seat is the City of Smila.
The Community hasn't adopted its own symbols, but is using the symbols of the City of Smila
(This is common practice; the symbols of the administrative seat are in use, until the distinct symbols
are adopted).

Heraldry:
"City in Cherkasy Oblast. The first mention refer to the
XVI century. From 1648–1654 it was a squadron town of the
Chygyrynsky Regiment. In 1773 it was given the Magdeburg
Right. According to a legend during one of the numerous raids of
the Tartars, a maiden led the prince's army in the rear. The enemies
were defeated, but the maiden was killed by a Tartar's arrow.
Nobody knows her name. When a settlement appeared on the place of
the battle they named it Smela (from the word meaning
"brave")."

My ancient encyclopedia says, under the heading
"Magdeburg": "Magdeburg became a flourishing
commercial town during the 13th century, and was an important
member of the Hanseatic League ... 'Magdeburg law'
(Magdeburger Recht), securing the administrative independence of
municipalities, was widely adopted." Perhaps where the
source says "was given Magdeburg right", we should
translate "received the right of civic self-government"
or something similar.

The first set of the City symbols were adopted in 1992, and were updated in 2008.

The flag is a crimson cloth (length twice the width), in the center of which is the coat of arms of
Smila in a white border. The current flag has the full version of the arms on it.

From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"On 10 July 1992, by the decision No. 8-21, the town council
approved the gonfalon: a rectangular crimson canvas with a ratio
of the sides: 1:2, in center of which there is a coat of arms of
the town in white framing."

I noticed a very different
flag of the City of Smila. It is shown at smila.osp-ua.info [retrieved].
I'm not sure what is it, maybe some kind of official or ceremonial flag?
On the other hand, the description fits to the image we have above.

The full version of the arms was adopted on 30.10.2008 and that version is currently in use.

The second coat of arms was adopted by the City Council on 10.7.1992. In a green field, a girl in silver clothing with an ornament at the bottom, a golden braid and a red headband breaks a black arrow over her head; at the base is a silver wall of a settlement with black seams.

"On the 10th of July 1992 town council session (resolution
No. 8-21) confirmed a modern emblem. In a vert field there is a
girl in argent clothes with ornaments, with an or plate, a gules
headband. The girl is breaking a sable arrow into two over her
head. In the base of the shield there is an argent wall with
sable seams. The broken arrow symbolizes victory of the good over
the evil. The wall is a symbol of courage and fortitude."

The first coat of arms was granted to Smila on 11.3.1779. In a red field the golden letters "XL". This is the monogram of the owner of the city, Ksawery Lubomirski.
