Flag of Körfez

The flag of Körfez is white with the municipality's emblem. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".

Körfez is the cradle of the Yarımca cherry, also known as Napoleon within the district, but called Hacı Abdullah by the villagers, as big as a small walnut, with a magnificent taste with its big kernels and dark color. Until the 1950s, the Yarımca cherry was grown intensively and offered to prominent guests visiting the district.
Today, however, it is about to disappear and it can only survive thanks to incentives. For the purpose of repopularizing Yarımca cherry, in the name of which a festival is held, and encouraging its cultivation, the municipality of Körfez is handing out saplings to producers. Today, there are only people growing cherries personally.

KTO (website) was established on 15 April 1999. The first application for the creation of the organization, submitted on 14 November 1995, was turned down by the Governor of Kocaeli. The Ankara 8th Administrative Court, however, ruled out that decision on 23 December 1998.

The flag of KTO (photo, photo, photo) is white with the organization's logo.
