Flag of Alanya

The flag of Alanya (photo) is white with the municipality's emblem. The former flag was white with the emblem a white background instead of gold. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".
The emblem shows a Seljuk double-headed eagle and a representation of the Red Tower and the arsenal, built by Sultan Alaeddin Kayqubad I (1188-1237, reigned 1220-1237), ruler of Rûm and the most illustrious sultan of the Seljuk dynasty.

The Red Tower is named after the reddish stones used in the lower section, and also after the bricks in the upper section. Due to the site that the tower is built on, there is two-meter difference in elevation between the west side (33 m) and the east side (35 m) of the tower. Of smooth octagonal shape, the tower is of five storeys. Water requirement throughout the year was met by collecting rain water into the cistern during the winter months with the use of small conduits around the tower.
The naval arsenal was built two years after the Red Tower, in 1228. With this effort the sultan realized his wish of becoming "Sultan-ul- bahreyn" (the Sultan of the Two Seas [Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea]) by preventing possible attacks that may come from the east. The arsenal is 56.5 m long, 44 m wide and consists of five chambers. Each chamber is 7.70 m wide and 42.30 m deep.

Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat Üniversitesi - ALKÜ) was established in 2015. The university is named for Sultan Alaeddin Kayqubad I (1188-1237, reigned 1220-1237), ruler of Rûm and the most illustrious sultan of the Seljuk dynasty.
Kayqubad I obtained in 1221 the fortress of Kalon Oros from the Armenian warlord Kir Fard, who was offered in exchange of the surrender the domain of Akşehir and whose daughter Hunat married the sultan. The new ruler renamed the place as Alâiye, a derivative from his own name. The modern name of the town, Alanya, was coined in 1935 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Kayqubad I made of Alâiye the winter capital of the sultanate, building the naval arsenal, the twin citadel and the Red Tower (Kızıl Kule). He is honoured in Alanya by an equestrian statue.

The flag of ALKÜ (photo) is white with the university's emblem.
The today's emblem of ALKÜ was introduced in January 2016. Rector Ahmet Pınarbaşı explains that the eight-pointed star represent the Seljuk state. The human figures symbolize the students who will graduate with a good education; the colors are those of the local football club, Alanyaspor. The side-by-side placement of the two students is a symbol of equality. The water drop emphasizes focus on everything that is alive.

Alanyaspor was established in 1948. The club joined for the first time the top league in 2016.
On 29 April 2019, a private van carrying seven players of the team overturned, killing Czech forward Josef Šural (b. 1990) and injuring six other players. Šural previously played for Slovan Liberec (2011-2016) and Sparta Prague (2016-2019); he also played 20 international matches for the Czech national team. Alanyaspor retired the number 90 shirt in his honor.

The flag of Alanyaspor (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo,) is white with the club's emblem.
The former flag of Alanyaspor (photo, photo, photo) was white with a slightly different emblem: the black "S" is placed on a white instead of yellow background, while the lower disk is charged only with "1948".
