Jeunesse d'Esch

Esch-sur-Alzette (35,040 inhabitants in 2018) is located in the south-west of Luxembourg, on the French border (thus explaining the name of the stadium, Stade de la Frontière, lit. Border Stadium). Esch was one of the centers of iron mining in Luxembourg, and metallurgical industry is still active there.
Jeunesse d'Esch, a club founded in 1907, won the national championship in 1921, 1937, 1951, 1954, 1958-1960, 1963, 1967, 1968, 1970, 1973-1977, 1980, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1995-1999, 2004, and 2010, and the national Cup in 1935, 1937, 1946, 1954, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1988, 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2013. The club qualified for the second round of European Cups twice in its history.
