The city emblem was adopted on Jun 5th 2005 by Notice No 321 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a green,blue , red three color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana い　I of Iwata. The blue and green stand for an affluent and vibrant city related to abundant nature, culture and history. The red sun represents limitless hope for bright future.
