I watced the news from channel 1. There was an interview with
the chief Ashkenazic Rabbi of Israel and behind him there was the
flag of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.
The Chief Rabbinate of Israel.is the highest Rabbinical institute of the state of Israel. It includes the Jewish religious courts system, the kosher certifications, appointments of rabbi's and religious judges etc. It operate according to the Chief Rabbinate Act of 1980. It is headed by two Chief Rabbi's (Ashkenazic and Sefaradic).
The Chief Rabbinate was founded in 1921 in order to replace to Ottoman's Hakham Bashi (initiated on 1835).
The flag is white with the emblem in blue.
