Description

Local Council Bene Ayish (meaning Sons of AYISH, Hebrew initials of Aqiva Yosef Shlezinger) is situated in the seashore plain, 3 km south of Gedera, west of the main road to the south (Road 40). Established 1957, became a Local Council in 1981, pop. 6,500. Municipal site at <www.bney-ayish.co.il>.
The unofficial flag is white with emblem. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut ha-Pirsumim), YP 3291, 12 January 1986. From the Local Council map/brochure (Atlas-Israel, 2000), my translation:

The emblem of the settlement marks its ideology. Village house and furrels represent the rural charachter of the settlements. Cogwheel represents values of labour. The tablets of the ten commendments symbolize the values of the Jewish nation. Sun symbolizes freedom and olive branches symbolize the desire for peace and brotherhood.

Photo at <www.bney-ayish.co.il> confirms the flag as white. Emblem can be seen also at <www.zmora.org.il>.
