Presentation of Kneževi Vinogradi

The municipality of Kneževi Vinogradi (Hungarian, Hercegszőlős; Serbian, Кнежеви Виногради) is located some 30 km north of Osijek. Population was 5,186 in 2001, shared among nine villages, 1,715 in the village of Kneževi Vinogradi.
Ethnically, about 40% inhabitants are Hungarians, some 35% Croats and just under 20% Serbs, with just under 2% Germans, too. Beside the Catholic and Orthodox churches, Kneževi Vinogradi is one of main centres of Calvinists in Croatia, mostly Hungarians, although more than half of them are Catholics; several other reformist communities thrive there, most of the villages having at least two churches of various denomination.
Relatively large by its area, the municipality covers vast, rich lowlands changing into marshes towards east as they approach the Danube, while the soft sloped hilly regions in the north produces one of the best wines in wider region, as the municipality's name indicates - literally meaning "The Duke's Vineyards".

The coat of arms is "Vert three bunches of grapes or with slip conjoined on a tun affronty proper and in chief a wheat ear fesswise".
The grapes and the barrel refer to the name of the municipality and the wheat ear depicts the other most important product of the region. The green background, as well as the yellow field of the flag, represent the agricultural resources of the municipality.

According to the Statute from 2007, the description of the coat of arms has a changed position of the barrel in the coat of arms.

The artistic solution used since its adoption until around the middle of 2015 differs in minor details of the display, most obviously in the display of grain classes. It seems that in 2015 the artwork was graphically refreshed, but no special decision was made about it.
