The first symbols of Pregrada were prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Pregrada, adopted on 30 November 1993 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 11 December 1993 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Županije Krapinsko-zagorske, No. 15.

The flag is prescribed as follows.

The flag is in rectangular shape, coloured green, underlined with two opposite white and red lines. Green is the symbol of the Zagorje vegetation, while the lines are details from the arms of the Keglević family. In the first third on the left is the municipality coat of arms, bordered yellow.

The coat of arms is prescribed as follows.

... in a baroque shield with the original Croatian coat of arms a hill raises, on which two crowned lions facing each other hold a church with two towers. In the left top corner is a bunch of grapes with a leaf, and in the right corner two flint guns in saltire. The colours are: red, green, yellow-golden and white-silver.
The coat of arms is based on the historical arms of the Keglević family and shows the "secular rule", represented in the two facing crowned lions guarding the "spiritual rule", represented by the church. The obvious symbol of Pregrada is the church with two towers, beneath the Kuna Gora [the hill in the vicinity of Pregrada] making the centre of the shield. The sky above the hill is the historical Croatian coat of arms, in the left side of which a bunch of grapes is depicted, symbolizing the vineyards and the affiliation to the agriculture, and in the right side of which two flint guns in saltire as are depicted, as the symbol of the struggle for independence and freedom, which are today part of the tradition. The lions are crowned with five-pointed crowns, the mark of a noble citizen who bears the title without Imperial or Royal grant.

The descriptions do not mention the ribbon with the name of the municipality beneath the shield.

New, short-lived symbols were prescribed by Decision Odluka o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Grada Pregrade, adopted on 27 March 1998 and published on 11 May 1998 in Službeni glasnik Krapinsko-zagorske županije, No. 2.

The flag is prescribed as follows.

... coloured silver. On one and the other end of the flag are the insets shaped as trapezium, one purpure-red and the other golden-yellow. In the middle of the flag is the coat of arms of the Town of Pregrada bordered black. The flag is rectangular, in proportions 1:2.

The coat of arms is prescribed as follows.

... in a shield shape bordered black. The coat of arms is divided into three fields, the top two symmetrical, one yellow and the other blue. In the yellow field is a white sword with a brown handle, and in the blue the Kostel mountain coloured green is raising, atop of which are the ruins of the Kostelgrad. In the lower field coloured purpure red is a marten running. In the middle of the arms is the symbol of Pregrada, the church, entering all three fields. The church is coloured white with two purpure red towers. Below the church are years inscribed with yellow numerals "1334-1997".
