Flag of Bedekovčina

The symbols of Bedekovčina are prescribed by Decision Odluka o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Općine Bedekovčina, adopted on 24 November 1995 by the Town Assembly and published on 10 December 1995 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Županije Krapinsko-zagorske, No. 14.

The adoption process of the symbols was prescribed by Decision Odluka o utvrđivanju postupka za donošenje Odluke o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Općine Bedekovčina, adopted on 20 July 1995 and published on 10 August 1995 in Službeni glasnik Županije Krapinsko-zagorske, No. 9. The municipality formed a comission to determine three variants of proposals for the symbols, after a public concourse. The preferred symbols were listed as pottery industry, castles, water and vegetation.

The symbols were designed by Danijel Drakulić, from Zagreb.

The flag is prescribed as follows.

... rectangular in shape, coloured white, made of silk. The coat of arms of the municipality is set in its central part. The central point of the coat of arms matches the crossing point of the diagonals. The flag is edged with a golden fringe. The size of the flag should be in proportions 1:2, sized to 1.50 m x 3.00 m.

The coat of arms is prescribed as follows.

... in a shield shape, divided horizontally into two fields. In the first field coloured golden, on a blue hill there is the golden-white mansion of the Bedeković-Komorski family, the traditional symbol of the municipality. In the second field there are three horizontal silver stripes and three horizontal white stripes, symbolizing the lakes of Bedekovčina, and through them a pottery jar coloured red, symbolizing the ceramics industry in the municipality.

Proposed symbols of Bedekovčina

This proposal, in several variants based on the same idea, was adopted by the Municipality Council of Bedekovčina on 24 November 1995, as the second awarded on the competition held for the coat of arms and the flag.
Designed by Edita and Tomislav Goluban, the flag is golden, representing the richness of the area, bordered with Croatian tricolour, a traditional ornament in the region. The white shield has four wavy bars, the two upper red and the two lower blue. The red bars represent roof tiles, that is pottery industry, while the two lower bars and number of waves represent the seven Bedekovčina lakes, artificially made by digging the earth for the tiles. The shield shape is the same as the shield used on the coat of arms of Zabok.
