Presentation of Messini

The municipality of Messini (23,482 inhabitants in 2011; 56,210 ha) was formed in the 2011 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities of Alpeia ( Αίπεια, 1,884 inh.), Androusa (Ανδρούσα, 2,397 inh.), Aristomenis (Αριστομένης, 2,459 inh.), Voufrades (Βουφράδες, 1,051 inh.), Ithomi (Ιθώμη, 1,897 inh.), Messini (9,889 inh.), Petalidi (Πεταλίδι, 3,217 inh.), and Trikorfo (Τρίκορφο, 706 inh.).
