It is a banner of arms with ratio 1:1.

(I drew it black, as it is blazoned that way in all sources, the image quoted was the only one with blue. Furthermore I drew the ermines reversed according to source and I adapted the number of diamonds, which I changed to lozenges, as it is blazoned. The arms of that college seem to be depicted differently by any pair within various sources.)

Both, the college colors and the respective coat of arms are black, as seen in the logo (http://www.magd.ox.ac.uk/wordpress/wp-content/themes/MagdalenCollegeOxford/images/logo.png) on their website, the official video presentation (https://vimeo.com/174255194) as well as this choir booklet dated 2018 season (https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/the-magdalen-college-choir-prepare-to-sing-the-hymnus-news-photo/953302660).

Arms

Coat of Arms:
Shield lozengy of Ermine and Sable; chief Sable, charged with three lilies Argent slipped and seeded Or.
Motto: “FLOREAT MAGDALENA” (= Let Magdalen flourish)
Magdalen College was founded in 1458 by William of Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester and Lord Chancellor. The founder's statutes included provision for a choral foundation of men and boys, a tradition that has continued to the present day, and made reference to the pronunciation (~= Maudlynn) of the name of the college in English. The personal arms of Waynflete are used by Magdalen with an additional chief, which is supposed to have been added by Waynflete, when he became Provost of Eton, for a lily occurs in the arms of that College.

Current Boat Club flag

It is a red flag with ratio 2:1, displaying three white lilies in fess, slipped green and seeded golden (= yellow).
The pattern is a stylised version of the chief of the college arms with different background colour, referring to the boat clubs traditional red flag colour.
