Polling Coat of Arms

Shield Gules an impending cross Or.
Meaning:
The golden cross is alluding to the close relationships between the village and the namesake Augustine convent, which had been refounded in 1010. The cross was approved on occasion of the 1200-years anniversary of the village in 1950. The first local monastery was founded probably around 750 by Duke Tassilo III of Bayern. The cross is based on a legend. The pack of hounds of a ducal hunting party surrounded a hind, which had grubbed a cross out of the soil. Hind and a cross in fess are displayed on the arms of the monastery since the 16th century. The municipal arms are a differentiation of those arms. The tinctures had been chosen arbitrarily.
