Willmars Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above again parted per fess, above Argent a bend Sable and beneath Gules a royal coronet Argent; beneath Or a hen statant Sable armed Gules on a triplemount Vert.
Meaning:
The municipality was established in 1972 by a merger of Willmars proper, Völkershausen and Filke. Willmars, represented by the coronet, had been a royal estate and was first mentioned in 811.The lower half displays the family arms of the Counts of Henneberg, the most important local manorial lords. The black bend displays the family arms of the Lords of Stein. A branch of that kin owned the castle in Völkershausen since 1378. Carl Baron of Stein rebuilt the castle between 1723 and 1731, based on his own drafts with advice from the famous Balthasar Neumann (1687 - 1753), who built among others the Würzburg Residence.
