Friolzheim Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Or two bars Azure, at sinister Azure a stag's head Or.
Meaning:
The dexter half is displaying a modification of the family arms of the Lords of Gemmingen, which had been Azure two bars Or. The sinister half is alluding to the arms of Hirsau Abbey. "Hirsau" is derived from "Hirsch Aue" (= stag's meadow). The village had been a possession of the monastery since the 12th century. In the 15th century the Lords of Gemmingen became local rulers step by step. The resold the village to the monastery in 1461. After the Protestant Reformation the village became a part of the monastery district of Hirsau in Württemberg until 1807. The arms were adopted by the municipality in 1937. The tinctures of the dexter half were adapted due to heraldic rules in 1957.
