Taufkirchen Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a black shield is the bust of a golden (= yellow) lion armed red. He is lanenating himself by a silver (= white) sword.
Meaning:
The arms are those of the Taufkircher kin, members of the Bavarian noblemen. The arms appear on seals and the tomb stone of Knight Hilprand Taufkircher, who died in 1381. Members of the family had been the local rulers in the 14th and 15th century. The tinctures have been handed down from old collections of arms. They were fixed in 1957.

Flag and coat of arms were approved by the district government of Oberbayern on 16 October 1978.

The current flag usage at the town hall switched from horizontal to vertical flags around 2009. Other vertical flags have been used at other places for some time already, though.
