Sandhausen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter barry-bendy (lozengy) of Argent and Azure, at sinister issuant from base Vert three deciduous trees Vert with stems Sable, the central tree being bigger.
Meaning:
Sandhausen became a fiefdom of the Palatine Counts of Rhine in 1262, was bought by them in 1351 and remained a part of the Palatine Electorate until 1802/1803. Local seals were mentioned in 1532 and 1573, but the oldest existing prints are from 1698. The current arms are based on this print. The lozenges are alluding to the Wittelsbach kin as local rulers. The trees are probably alluding to the location near the Schwetzinger Hardt, a local forest. Municipal seals from the 19th century displayed a mirrored bend of Baden and three acorns, later on again the lozenges and three hearts.
