Bernried Coat of Arms

Shield parted per bend, above left Sable a fleur-de-lis Argent, beneath right Argent a linden twig Gules with three leaves.
Meaning:
The partition of black and silver is derived from the family arms of the Lords of Egg, who owned the namesake district (Bavarian: Hofmark) during the 13th and 14th century. They also held the low level cognisance in the major part of the current municipality. The fleur-de-lis is taken from the arms of the Benedictine Metten Monastery, which owned large estates in the village. The twig is taken from the arms of the Forster family, who owned the Pitzenried district (Bavarian: Hofmark) from 1395 until the middle of the 15th century. The number of leaves is also representing the former indepent municipalities of Bernried, Edenstetten and Egg, which merged in 1978.
