Altendorf Coat of Arms

Shield Or a horse passant Sable, chief Gules a key Argent in fess.
Meaning:
The key is taken from the family arms of the Schlüsselfeld kin, opponents of the Bishops of Bamberg. The kin founded Schlüsselau Abbey and nearby Schlüsselfeld city. An image of the horse passant was found on a coin of Celtic origin, probably minted around 80 BC.
