Flag of Lakatamia

The flag of Lakatamia (photo, photo) is white with the municipal emblem in the center.
The emblem features a water wheel (alakati).

The most probable origin of the name of Latakamia, is connected with the many alakatia (water wheels) that existed in Lakatamia and were used to draw the abundant underground water from the springs. It is believed that there were more than 80 wells (alakatia) in Lakatamia, and that's why the area is called Lakatamia (alakatia - "Alakatamia" - "Lakatamia") The alakatia is today the emblem of Lakatamia.
Another speculation, as from where Lakatamia took its name, is that the name was originally "Lakedemon" as the name of ancient Sparta and it was paraphrased through the years and ended up as Lakatamia.
