The flag is "a horizontal flag with equally divided horizontal stripes, the top being blue, the middle white and the bottom red, featuring a parrot in the middle" (translated from the original in Spanish)

The coat of arms is seen here: Its description is as follows: "The coat of arms of the Municipality of Carepa shows in its lower part, the integration and ethnic diversity of our people, on the right part it features the two most important economic activities which are banana trees and cattle raising, in the upper left it shows the Abibe mountain range, an ecological and hydrographic treasure of our region, the parrot (a) symbol of our Municipality and the Carepa river, main water source. Also it features the words "trabajo" (labor) y "tesón" (endurance) which are some of the main traits of our people, the name of the Municipality and the year 1983 in which it was declared as a Municipality" (translated from the original in Spanish).
