The emblem is canting with the hazel (German: Hasel; Swiss German: Hasle)

Since 1 January 2011 Haslen is part of Glarus Süd commune.

In 2006 Haslen merged intermediately with Leuggelbach and Nidfurn into the new commune of Haslen.
