The "poetical, sentimental and realist" interpretation of the colors of the flag is the following.
Green represents the natural environment, forests and the municipality's perpetual youth.
Red represents optimism and confidence.
Blue represents the sky and political evolution of remote times.
White represents aspiration to peace and concord.
Yellow represents shine and prosperity.

The gourd-shaped of the shield represents the traditionalist culture of some of the founders of the town, who came from Rio Grande do Sul.
The yellow star represents the starry sky and shining progress, as well as hierarchic respect and family respect.
On the left, the height represents the green forests and the mountains that surround the municipality; the furrows represent the soil experiencing big transformations.
The river dividing the municipality is river Chapecó, with its force and representatively. Emblematic of the region, it is featured in the center.
The bricks atop the shield represent the limits of the territorial extension and the constitutive power.
Beneath the shield, the scroll presents the beauty of the name given to the place.
